knocking front suspension

Hi, I've got a '94 200Tdi (150k miles) and when I go round corners, I can hear a knocking sound coming from the front somewhere. It seems worse when I turn left but I can still hear it when I turn right. It also happens over uneven surfaces or if I brake sharply. I thought I could have a knackard shock - before I go renewing the front shocks, are there any other ideas what this could be?

I had similar sounds on one side of mine especialy nearer to hard lock.

One day I lost all drive, turns out it was the front left CV joint had blown up as the ball joint had leaked and was running dry.(it was when I turned left too)

If it is under breaking could be the bearings, check chat play you have in you'r wheels

thanks. now you mention it, sometimes when turning hard left, i feel a bit of feedback through the wheel, like it's catching slightly. The front left wheel bearing was replaced recently to pass MOT.

its bad enough that we knock freelanders but why are we now knocking front suspension?

That's just plain kinky

Whose end's knocking whose box?

Could also be anti-roll bar bushes, top shock mounts, steering damper/mounts or one of many other steering components.
