Today I was driving into Wales doing about 60 mph. Got over an hour in And steam and smoke come out from under bonnet. Pull over and open bonnet to see steam gushing out of expansion cap. Thinking I have overheated the engine I decide to wait and top up with water. A friendly landrover owner pulls up to lend some advice as I know nothing about these engines and really need to learn. He says you should be worried about why it is happening and suggests the head gasket could have gone or cracked. Or the thermostat is Knackered or radiator or hoses could be blocked . He carriede on and I managed to drive it to a petrol station with coolant still gushing out. Hours later when I start the engine even cold the water pours out of the expansion cap. What is wrong with my Landy.

Any advice to a complete novice would be greatly appreciated

piece of string question ,depends if heads buggered ,needs skimming or okay, £10 gasket if you can do it yourself and everythings okay, you need to find cause too ,checking rads hot all over is wise after its fixed as well as seeing its still got all its fins,
