I have a 4.6 1999 autobiography AND ALL IS WELL WHEN DRIVING NORMALLY. However when I wish to overtake, say at around 50mph, I put my foot down and the engine just revs to about 4k and bobs around there until I take my foot off the pedal. There is NO INCREASE IN SPEED at all. What could be wrong?

In a manual that's normally a big sign of a slipping clutch. My P38 is the first auto I've actually owned so don't know much about auto boxes if you have one.

If it's auto, check you have oil in the gearbox.
