this problem started today on my p38 when i take the key out of the ignition the dash says "ignition key in " and i put the key in and out and still doesnt come off and remote wont lock the car i have to do it by key anyone any ideas what the problem is thanks very much

mine does this from time to time its the ignition lock sticking try cleaning inside the mechanism with wd40 and then lubricating with a light oil.

This one was covered a week or two ago. Squirt switch cleaner or graphite lube in the ignition switch and work it a few times, flicking the key out quickly once it's turned to the off position. Something inside is sticking making the car think the key is in, hence not locking too. Some people use WD40 or equivalent but be careful as that will collect moisture and dirt after a while.

Thanks guys !!!! Just started having the same issue although mine will lock just sick of the anoying "Boingign" sound !!!!!

Do not use wd40 in the lock dust will stick to it and make it worse, use graphite only

i' ve just come onto landyzone because mines started doing the same thing today

just sprayed it with a can of air duster from maplins.
put the tube in the lock and gave it a good spray and after afew goes it seems ok.
