Key fob replacement

Hi guys I've recently had issues with my freelander 2 key fob. The battery seems to have run our so I cam not lock or unlock chicken unless.i use key on passenger side. Went to garage and was quoted £125 for a new fob. My question is has anybody tried the replacement fobs on amazon and just replaced the chip inside ? Garage is stating the old fob will not come apart. Thanks
