Hi All,
I bought my 1995 P38 4.6 HSE Auto about two weeks ago knowing that as it had been used as an executive's runabout in Kuala Lumpur for the last 14 years it had never been off road and the low range gears had probably never even been tried. Predictably, the shift to low range never happened and having been advised that the motor was probably seized I resigned myself to budgeting for a new motor and perhaps an ECU. I forlornly tried the shift on a daily basis and dejectedly listened to the beeps that never stop but then today they stopped and with a dull clunk, I heard the long wished for shift to low range. Miracles can happen! So, if at first you don't succeed... etc etc.
I shifted it back to high range pretty sharpish though and thankfully it went ok as I had a 600 mile round trip ahead of me and I didn't want it to stick in low range. I haven't touched it since - too scared; I'm only half way through my trip. I might give it another go tomorrow....
No technical know how required for this one, just perseverance and prayer!
