:confused:Hi all, just got my eas software, very good i think, im an engineer so have good overall knowledge. cleared my ecu and fault re appeared. the same fault consistantly comes back, FR low value, i had a look and FR is 39 and the rest are in the 105 area, is there a repair i can do, a way of checking, or is it just replace sensor, i am a fond believer of strip and have a look but as my suspension just faults in the right up position it remains perfectly useable!!! help really appreciated!!!!

Use the software to exercise the FR and see if the sensor values change. You can also swop the the sensors left to right and see if the fault follows.
It may solve your problem however ,as swopping sides uses a different section of the carbon track on the sensor.

I have to admit I have my doubts on this theory, as the amount of travel in the potentiometer is limited, so unless the full distance of travel of the pot is less than half the travel of the vehicle's height then yes, you could in theory swop them round.

You then have to ask yourself, if these devices are interchangable then why are they always sold as named devices like Front Left or Front Right Ride Height Sensor and not Front or Rear Ride Height Sensor.

My 10p worth.

Early ones were handed, later ones are not. They can be fitted left or right but not front to back.

Thanks Wammers, didn't know that, but the distance of travel principle still applies. When you say 'early ones' do you mean the round -v- straight with the round ones being the earlier?

If you look at parts suppliers Island 4x4, Famous four etc. You will see that the sensors changed from a certain VIN up. The early ones are a lot more expensive than the later ones and are handed. The later ones are cheaper and interchangable left or right. VA346794 on are the new ones.

Unplug and clean the connector to the front right sensor and while you are at it check that the linkage is in place:D If that fails replace the sensor. Swapping side to side is not a good idea as the worn area will still be within the range of movement and could cause an intermittant fault.
