If your fitting the cross bars, basically the roof rack then with the extended rails you could in theory fit extra cross bars. This would allow you to to have more fixing points for the awning reducing any flex/sag at the front of the awning. Hope that makes sense.

bless u as always for the help and indeed makes a lot of sense

Haven’t got a sunroof in mine , will be fitting 2 x solar panels on the roof and was going to use stainless steel L shaped bars to go across to each roof rail , then fix the panels to that , just looked at the price of the genuine extended roof rails, I nearly fell over with some being well over £500

but then saw some from the company , powerful uk , alas don’t know what there like

https://www.powerfuluk.com/land-rover-discovery-3-4-roof-rails-extended-black.html

also looked at some roof racks to see if it make life easier, ie to fix the panels to and maybe be stronger for the awning to secure to, alas haven’t got a clue what type of awning , think just a side one as I know the wrap round ones are extremely expensive and in all honesty a side one will suffice, also deciding what side

reminds me I must install a cooler box i got given to me , is a waeco, don’t know if there any good

thks so much and apologises waffling on

Waeco are a top recognised make and a lot of people rave about them. Roof box no good for me as I’ve got a full floor on my roof rack so can’t fit a box, have a roof bag that works well though. Powerful UK are well know and their kit is usually good quality, not had anything from them myself but know people who have.

You could always ask for a swap long rails for your short. Plenty of people take long ones off to fit roof racks. Or plenty of breakers that would probably have some. Search Kent 4x4 breakers and Gentlemen of Salvage.

That was on Lock Inver. I don’t fish but always fancied fly fishing. Everything I’ve got fitted is Prospeed, rack, sliders, front plate, compressor guard and rear ladder. Have a Lightforce Rok20 on the ladder, 2 Lazer Triple R-750’s in the grill and a Lazer Linear Elite 18 on the rack although that’s not fitted in those photos. Must say they are awesome lights. Can't help with the D4 - but I'm always happy to give a fly fishing lesson or two.

Cant beat taking a Landy to a lake for a good fishing session.

You got to use them for what their made for. They are amazing off road.

The thing is use it or loose it. Always cycle the suspension up and down, I put mine in off road height in car parks. When in the car park stick it in low range and have a drive round and most importantly use the EPB and service it regularly.

Agree entirely - given mine a good work out off road too - and you always get some very bemused expressions and not a little **** taking when you first turn up and all the D2 owners and the series owners with winches on the front look at you as if they expect to spend all day pulling you out of mud holes - or that you will avoid all the muddy bits for fear of getting your paint dirty.

Then you do this and it all turns out OK - but the Defender owners hate you because they are wearing coats and gloves inside their cars and I'm in a shirt with heated steering wheel and heated seats. Hmmmm.

Thanks for all the nice comments. As for what beach it is in the Cornwall photos I’m not sure to be honest.

Next addition should be getting fitted on Saturday. Getting a Rhino Rack Batwing 270 awning.

Can’t wait to see how I can set it up with my Oztent RV4.

Bit more work on the drawer/slider unit. Started to trim the drawer out. Just the front to do. Quite happy with it for a first attempt at carpeting something.
