Just picked this up.........

3.5 V8 petrol

3 inch suspension lift with relocation cones and straps
diff guards back and front and steering guard
rock sliders
A bar
long angle prob shafts
high and low perfect working order as well as diff lock,
transfer box has had recent overhaul at mike atkian 4x4along with a service on engine and diff oils changed.
kenlow digital controlled twin fans for cooling under bonnet
snorkel
poly bushed all round,
rear disc conversion from a disco



Not had a defender for a while and wasnt even realy looking for one but seen this come up and managed to get it for £1500.

Seems very clean for the year, chasis is solid must have had new members fitted at some point.


A few problems seem to be it moves about on the road when braking , feels twitchy at the back end, I put this down to needing new rear trailing arm bushes?

Also power steering stopped working when I pulled into my drive?

That looks tidy, it looks like it's been loved rather than abused

£1500 doesn't usually get you anything with doors attached

Tell me about it,

Has a blaupaunk stereo, little steering wheel, he even through in a center cubby box and 2 sets of brand new seat bases. Everything seems to work, including working door locks.

Just need to find out why the power steering has stopped working, and if the rta bushes need done. cheers

power steering seems to be fine, just doesntwork well when not moving.The minute u give it a bit of grunt it kicks in.

Been out this morning in the day light, still amazed at the amount of money it cost me. Pulled the seat covers off expecting to see the seats all torn up, but no! like new.

Also expected to see my mono block drive covered in oil, but not a drop.

Will get a proper look at it later and get some more decent pics up.

sounds like knackered P/S fluid, had similar issues with my current motor, change of fluid sorted it, have a look/give it a sniff, if it smells burnt, or is brown its knackered.

Mine went like that power stearing would not work when stopped, 4 weeks later the seal on the bottom went, was warn had to get a whole new unit, thou mine was C reg, so i would say you might be needing a new power stering unit soon.

Yes thats the one, I knew it wouldnt hang around long so I just drove through for it.


Thanks for the info on the power steering, will check the fluid. Is changing the pump a big/pricey job if it goes?
