Hi all,

I went to view this S3 yesterday and bought it.

Unsure exactly what I've got in to! :)

It's totally original, 3 owners and 19,000 miles. Other than a cross member 22 years ago, it's never been welded and appears to have a very sound chassis which needs a handful of small repairs and a damn good clean to get the flaky paint off. Running condition unknown - but am assured it does run fine having been started successfully from an external fuel tank and with a new coil. Remains to be seen though.

The Brake cylinder is missing, so obvious general brake maintenance required, new cylinder etc.

I'll post a few more pics once it's home.

In the meantime I'm wondering if there are any enthusiasts in the Frinton-on-Sea area who may be able to give me a more experienced appraisal, or even some hands on help to get it moving on its own?

G.

Nice. Probably won't need much more than a good tinker. When doing the brakes, don't cut corners on cost of parts, avoid britpart and Eurocars parts.

Thanks both. I'm yet to get the car home, awaiting quotes from Shiply.

in the meantime, here's a couple more pics which I took yesterday.

Needless to say, I cant wait to get the spanners out!

My first reaction was maybe 119k miles but looking at the photos there's something genuine about its condition. A very nice buy. The engine in particular looks unused for some time. By the by the air flow metal elbow from the rubber air supply to the carb is unobtainium now, should be able to get one secondhand. Good luck with the project. If you refurbish in original specification it'll be a great investment and a jolly nice landy

Thank you!

Yes initially it will be oily rag type restoration to get it running and moving - regardless it would only be restored as it should be.

You can only get originality once!
