hi guys.. I've just bought a freelander TD4 facelift, it was in a bit of a bump and was a class 3 write off, so far its cost me about £395 to put right until my mechanic was fitting new wishbones where he told me the prop shaft was missing, I have read that a number of people remove the prop shaft for economy however what concerns me is that the most likely reason was that the dif is knackered...is there anyway of getting the dif checked before I buy a new prop shaft?

More likey the vicous coupling in the prop was seized.
Just removing the prop is a cheap use for now trick.
I am no expert on freelanders but thats the most common problem.
Replace prop with a good vicous coupling and go from there.
:welcome2:

Thanks Spencer 1885, after fitting two knackered VCU's from ebay i finally bought a reconditioned on and all seems as it should now.
