I was in the same boat. Bought the first I saw and I have spent a year playing catch up on the mechanical bits, however, I love this truck, I use it every day and consider it my project.

Now I have just the cosmetics to sort,...and mods, it needs mods,....I need more money....

Welcome to the Forum. Buying a D2 is a tricky business, but the key is really the chassis. If you bought one with a genuinely sound chassis (or at least
one that can be decently repaired with welding or a part-chassis replacement) then pretty much everything else is economically viable. If the chassis is
shot then unless everything else is superb and justifies spending more on replacing the chassis than the car is worth, then ultimately it is just a parts car.
There are some real BCU/electrical gurus on the site, so post your Alarm issue on the Disco forum and someone will be along with sound advice.
For starters - might be the receiver in the roof lining - plug and play replacement. EKA could be wrong as they can be changed and if the original was too difficult to input it might well have been - Nanocom or Foxwell NT530 will read/change it for you (Hawkeye will not). Could be a faulty BCU, much more complex, but they can be sent away and fixed.

Thanks folks. Yes, have ordered a new receiver after cleaning up rusty earth didn't help. Hadn't heard of Foxwell. Fingers crossed on the new receiver!

Regarding chassis. I don't think mine's too bad. Light corrosion at rear and found a wheelarch hole under battery. Working my way through the leaks!

Think the immobilisation makes me doubt the purchase most!

I would get any welding done on the chassis asap and get the whole thing protected inside and out. I went with Dinitrol, but there are plenty of other options out there. For £440 I felt getting it done professionally by Flatdog was a very worthwhile investment, but they will not treat a chassis that needs any work.

Thanks for the alarm link and moral support. Very much needing it! 4th coolant hose in the post. Took off battery to inspect radiator and now been immobilised for days. Don't know how last owner managed to just use key.

Sounds expensive. Was going to pressure wash , wire wheel and kurust rust then underseal. Dinitrol better?

Given the amount of labour they spent on it over 5 days thoroughly cleaning off any mud and grease inside the chassis and out - active and passive drying - stripping off the previous waxoil - inspecting every inch to ensure it does not need work - treating and stabilising surface rust - masking off those items that you do not want dinitrol on - then spraying the inside of the chassis rails as well as covering the outside of the chassis, axles, floorpan etc including those bits such underneath the fuel tank that are difficult to access - in my case drilling drain holes in the tree sliders and filling those as well (no extra charge) - before finally making sure that there is no spray anywhere you don't want it, and then adding the cost of the products themselves, I think £440 is good value, particularly as they can only cope with one vehicle at a time and they had it from Saturday to Saturday. They will not be getting rich quick at that rate.
I would avoid underseal as it can trap water between it and the chassis allowing rust to take hold unseen. You would also need to think about how to get the underseal to coat the inside of the chassis rails, as chassis tend to rust from the inside out.
