And it still runs fine!
yes runs fine on road only
not only have I had my fair share with electronic issues transmission and engine ..but now the 3 amigos have come back once again

I have many 4wds in my time .seems like the traction control is the main feature to help the disco off road

Any engine issues?

Because ABS fauts are not related to the engine.

Try the relevant car section, as if your car is a D2 plenty of advice from V8 owners as well.

And a good code reader is worth buying

injector issues mechanically and electrical
turbo issues mechanical
oil cooler mechanical
thermostats placed around the engine mechanical
exhaust manifold warping
hydraulic lifters mechanical fault
fuel pressure regulator mechanical fault
plagued with oil leaks
maf sensor issues on my 2 or 3rd sensor

Saw photos you posted a while back it looked like a really nice rig, even so, problems eh?
Still, it sounds like a normal Disco to me, particularly later ones with electronics!
Get hold of a good D1, or, dare I say it, buy a Toyota.
I got a foot in both camps, because owning a Disco, (or any Landrover for that matter), is a heart thing, owning a Toyota is a head thing.
Both marques have their goods and bads, all in my humble opinion of course.

Just read your post in Roly's cylinder head thread, sounds like you've made up your mind to get out of Discos.
I'm glad I chose to go for the old '98 D1, it has been relatively reliable, (208,000klm), but it's like that "special child", it needs lots of attention, while the old '92 Tojo, (403,000klm), just keeps on running and reliable with twice as many Klms on the dial.

although i have 3 amigo once again but i did fail to mention i also have a SRS light .the SRS light was easy to remove by removing the dash and removing the LED light
the engine still looks the same from the vid or photos you seen .i have spent many hours cleaning up and fixing oil leaks
bearing in mind to have an engine this clean it took me a long time specially it has well over 300000 k on the clock

I'm not a big believer in brand names i have had ford /Nissan as well as a dodge ram .every vehicle has its flaws ..seems like the more electronics =to more issues
the discovery is supposed to be the best all rounder ..but if its electronics are not working its just as good as a Hyundai suv
just saying

yes i have made my mind up
i already have a D1 parked up out side my house with a ****ed engine
the way the d2 is going i put my bottom dollar i will have 2 disco acting as crash barrier for the house

X2 on the electrics, the only concession to modern electrics on our D1 is windows and central locking that only works sometimes, that could be down to fact that the old Disco came from Booraloola up in Gulf of Carpentaria, it had tonnes of red dust through everything when I got it.

Shame for good looking vehicles to end up as garden ornaments.
Old mate up here has a fence line on his property made up of old series Landrovers, probably 20 vehicles, very fashionable and recognisable, just rusting away in the wet season.

some times you need to draw the line
is the vehicle in question worth fixing
same with newer cars .engines these day are easier and cheaper to swap out basically throw away engines

your old mate might be making a good statement..i mean a picture says a thousand words right

I think the statement is he still loves the Landies, I think it's like putting a billboard up with your favorite thing in all the world on it. He swears by, (but mostly at), the County and series 2a he drives as daily drivers.

maybe
because he has well over 20 donor vehicles
I have loved landrover from day one my missis also use to say look bub there's a disco when I was driving around in a 300 buck banger

now that I'm on my 2nd
let alone the hours spent not with the family but spend more time working on them
becomes trouble or finance trouble

some times you need to draw the line
I have drawn the line with mine .regadless the work I have put into it ..its now becoming a high maintenance vehicle
some times you just have to let go and say good by

Hi.
Also own a D3, occasionally the electrics play up but found no real faults it turns out to be that the car needs a full battery any slight drop and I mean slight the it throws a wobbler in the form of a fault code on mine it's usually handbrake or suspension and I know both are spot on as we have serviced the lift pump and cleaned and set the handbrake.

I got duel batts + a solar panel also have a drop tester to test batts
this isn't my issue
