90 tank should be 12 gallons/55 litres of useable fuel.

Indeed, that was my thinking too. Unfortunately I have never been able to get more that 10 gallons in it from empty. Perhaps is has a dent in it?

Funny you should say this, I had the same "issue" I also noted I didn't actually know how much fuel I had left when the gauge said empty, so I waited for the light to come on and then did some miles on low fuel warning light then drained the fuel out into a bucket - I got just under 2 gallons out.
I then measured the fuel back into the tank with the ignition on 1 litre at a time, 11.5 litres and the light went out. I think once my light comes on I would happily drive about another 35 miles.
So they are 12 gallon tanks but when the light comes on even after a bit of driving, there is, in my setup anyway, about 2 gallons left - please note, or those of you unsure - this will not be the same for your tank. They will all be different and if, like me, you have changed tanks and altered the float height it will for sure be different.
I have about 3 gallons in the tank at the moment, I think I will drive about 50 miles which should take me to just over 1 gallon in the tank - if I plan my route I will hopefully get home without running the tank dry and I'll work out how low I can actually run the tank before the pickup pipe struggles on inclines etc. It would then let me re-think my known range, at the moment which I always just take it to be about 280miles - if I knew actually I could get about 320ish that would make a difference.
On the dog guard above the passengers right shoulder. Easy access and still allows for three people to sit "comfortably" across the front.
