Evening,

When ever I am reversing (any speed) and I fully press my clutch to allow my landy to coast backwards, I get this horrible juddering and my car shakes and jumps. It does the same thing if I don't press my clutch too. Does anyone know what this is and how I can sort it? It wasn't doing it yesterday.

Thanks in advance

Hi Grunt,

Where abouts should I be looking to check that the hand brake isn't binding and would it not judder when I move forwards if the hand brake is binding? Which bit is the trailing edge?

Thanks for the quick reply

Get the rear end on axle stands and with the hand brake off try turning the wheels if they're stiff or if you can hear the juddering then the hand brake could be binding and needs adjusting.

It's a lot easier to do it with the propshaft off turning the drum but then it can be a pain getting the prop shaft off it's up to you.

It may not judder going forwards cos the leading edge of the shoes have a chamfer on so dont "grip" the drum. The rotation of the drum on the chamfer pushes the shoes away.

alright well I'll give it a go, but not now - I'm in my dressing gown,
I thank you

(just in case that's not the problem, what else should I be looking out for?)

Weird, sometimes when letting the clutch out in 1st gear I get quite a bad judder, although there seems to be a tecnique to avoiding it... I have no idea whether this would be the same problem tho?

Well I took her down to the garage and funnily enough, the blody thing didn't judder when I was trying to demonstrate the problem - sods law. I must have been a bit aggressive with the throttle or the clutch but I'm going to be keeping an eye on it

Yeah, like mine i quess there is a tecnique, although as I havn't yet to pass my test I havn't mastered it yet... :)
