Hello,

P38
2.5
Diesel

After replacing my in tank fuel pump I still have the juddering as if pumps failed but:( I can hear it running. Also removed the fuel filter and switched ignition on and fuel did flow in a good amount.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply. I've swapped gen filter for cheap one to try and still no different it's fine at low revs until it warms up then it's Driving fine and just jolts then Carry on then jolts again. Could it be FIP timing?

I had something similar to this and it turned out to be air getting into the fuel system because I hadn't tightened the filter enough after service... It tended to stall as a consequence though so maybe not the same symptom?
It was suggested to look at the fuel quantity servo, I'm sure more knowledgeable people will complete that :)

I'll google it..

RAVE it. I doubt it will be air causing your problem. If it runs normally and hiccups now and again it is not likely to be air unless it's sucking lots in. Any air drawn in goes to the top of the pump and out back to the tank via the spill return. It can't get to the delivery area of the pump and into the injection pipes which would give a problem unless there is loads of it. When your lift pump is working air cannot be drawn in, fuel can only leak with glows on or engine running. Only time air can be drawn in is in a pre 1999 car when engine is cranked warm without glows as the lift pump does not run on cranking. On a post 1999 it does.

Hiya Mutz had it diognisied it was injector four failing so I've replaced it and is running better than ever!! Good advice tho thank you.

Unless you don't screw your filter on properly that is :p

Yeah your right. When it did the whole juddering thing it would flick the light on for a few seconds then go out until the next time.

Maybe if you had mentioned that fact in the first place this could have been over with quicker. We are not mind readers.
