Hi no I don’t know the vehicle or much about the history,there is a switch fitted for the radiator fan,which itself seems to have been added but stops it overheating completely,i was told by a garage there’s a disco engine in it,it’s a Landrover 110 hard top
 
I would suggest it would be a good idea to post some pictures up of the engine and general pictures.
Electric fan won't solve over heating problem but might hide a problem to certain extent.
Red hot fuses is a recipe for a fire, I would check ratings, it's not unknown for POs to fit over rated fuses to cover up electrical fault. Almost every fuse in my son's 200tdi was incorrect, for no apparent reason.
Disco engine has a low mounted turbo, Defender has a high mounted turbo if 200tdi.
 
People on here are really helpful but they need information to be able to help. The mere detailed and accurate the information you give will lead to more detailed and accurate information being returned.

If someone has told you the turbo is wrong, if you want help and clarification if that is correct then take some photos of the engine bay so people can see what engine you have plus a more specific photo of the turbo and post them here. Knowledgeable folk can then study the photos and give you their views from their vast experience.

The same goes for your electrical problem - post up photos of your fuse box and what the problem is. Explain when it gets hot and hopefully people will be able to guide you through methods of testing and a process of elimination to find the actual problem. From my very basic knowledge of electrics I would say electrics getting hot is usually from something drawing too much power or a short. To try and find what is causing your issue I would say that firstly you need to explain is your battery disconnected and as soon as its connected it starts to get hot or is it only getting hot when you turn the ignition? After that it's the folk with knowledge of electrics that may be able to help but make sure you turm off all your switches (lights, wipers, heated windows, etc) before turning on your ignition as you need to pinpoint the specific item that's causing the heat - but let the folks in the know talk you through it because hot wiring can cause fires but also melt any wires next to them which will turn into an expensive mess.

Electrical stuff is like the dark arts and if you're anything like me it will be daunting. However with the right information people on here may be able to help.

I could only afford a 90 that was a bit tired, but with help here and Internet videos (Britannica Restorations and trailer fitters toolbox) I am prolonging my trucks life and improving it mechanically and structurally. I have no prior mechanical knowledge but I can weld, and with asking for help people share their knowledge and I can learn to fix/improve my vehicle. Hopefully they can do the same for you.
 
How many times have you replaced the fuses and
what rating are they, a multimeter is a must if you are going to get into the wiring,
Could you put some pics up of the wiring and fuses,
I'm sure that you will get good info from here, land rover wiring is fairly simple and easier to get to then many vehicles which is a plus,
