Hi, Just joined the LR zone, and hope to get advice on restoring my 1955 series 1 to roadworthy condition. It has languished in a barn for 20 years, so there was a bit of work to do - much of it already done now but some remains and as soon as I get it on the road doubtless much more will appear.
I'm an agricultural engineer (retired), so can do most jobs if not hurried. Currently overhauling NS (left) front hub assy. Going OK but slowly as I try to figure it out. I am 78 so heavy components can be a problem!
I have had 3 different S1 Land Rovers, the first being in 1954, - a 1949 model passed on to me by my dad. Then in 1958 I had an early diesel, and although everyone told me it was gutless I loved it and did a big mileage in it. I later had another of the same, and strangely that one really was gutless. Then work and family and house repairs etc. made LRs impracticable so I went without until last year when I took on this one. J.
