Japanese Diesel to RR 4 speed

Hi just wondering is anybody know which Japanese deisel engine will bold
onto to an early (78-84) Rover 4 speed bell housing

The list is endless - but why bother when Tdi's are easily
available - easy to fit and, most importantly, insure?

also, I suspect that all the non-rover options will need an adapter.
