Jacking point

Hi, i am a bit of a new comer to landrovers,
i need to jack my 90 up to ramove the front passenger wheel.

i have what looks like a jack, a length of straight steel with a screw
thread up the centre and a place to attach a socket at the top for
winding.

my question is wher do i poke the short rod on the jack?

Colin,

There are 4 jacking points on your 90. The front 2 are direct onto the
chasis at the front, (under the bumper and eitherside of the numberplate
probably). You might need to remove 2 rubber bungs... There are also 2 holes
in the rear crossmember.

Wang the short bit in the hole, and crank it up!

Front of vehicle, under bumper on chassis dumb iron (may have a bung
covering hole). Chock the vehicle first - that funny piece of steel is
there for a reason! Then go to Richard and ask for a high lift... the
standard jacks take for ever to lift the vehicle.

If you can find one, get a bottle jack with a U-shaped attachment on
the top, these fit under the axle and so every movement upwards lifts
the wheel, rather than lifting the chassis and waiting for the wheels
to follow. I'd also regard them as much safer than the likes of
high-lift jacks etc. It is of course best to have both the bottle and
the high-lift jacks.

I think these jacks were at one point either available from landy
dealers or were standard shipment, but not sure. That's the context I
think I saw them in. Old Sodbury's Sortout is coming up, might be a
good place to spot one. The ones I'm thinking of seemed to be made
specially for the landy as the U-shape was just the right size to fit
under and around the axle.
