I don't need one for maybe 6 months or so because I've still got to build the garage which has a pit in it.
What capacity will I need to lift the front of a 110 200tdi?
And..
My pit will have 10mm thick 100mm X 100mm steel angle running all around all 4 sides and welded together at the corners, the finished frame will be sitting on solid concrete.
I've never actually looked at a jacking beam close up but I can see that they are adjustable for width.
Unless someone can advise differently I plan to modify (if necessary of course) the slidey part , remove wheels and make a skid for example. There appears to be two types? Some have rollers to move some slide on a guide rail, whatever I buy will need to be s/h, can't afford new even s/h are expensive unless they need repair.
It won't be used every day so I don't mind heaving it along the angle etc.
I did think of making one out of rsj and a couple of bottle jacks mounted to the top or something -anybody done that?

Usually the jacks are about 1 1/2 - 2 ton look for a 4 poster ramp jack there is a few on bgay
wheels or sliders wheels are easier to move but the wheels get stuck/jammed with all the
bits falling off yer landy lol
sliders just stick a bit off grease on them job done :)

Cheers @kevstar
I've actually looked at the £50 one quite a few times , not a million miles from me , about 1 HR 30mins away, but I was worried about the 1.5 ton capacity being enough for my lardy tratter?
I've never seen those tray things before though. The £50 beam ends soon !
Cor blimey...what to do..

@kevstar
I know this may seem a dumb question but..(looking at the £50 one here)
Are the arms adjustable and the running track width adjustable too?

That one will extend out to suit the width then once you've jacked it up a bit you can pull out
the arms with the jacking points on it ;)

Just to update this.
Got a really nice 1.5 ton for £150.
