I've two kits/jills

Been tempted for ages, but finally bought after knowing they are from local breeder who would give advice if needed

I bought 2 females as I didn't want the hassle of getting hob snip.

This hasn't been a spur of then moment thing, been at least 2 months thinking about it and doing some reading etc.

Mine were £20 each and able to speak to breeder if problems, local garden centre sells them at £45 each

if you've got females, and don't want to breed from them, then you need access to a hoblet or you need to take them to the vet each spring for an (expensive) jill jab.

The manager of the place I bought from is the breeder, the appropriate questions were asked before sale and it was made quite certain that any questions-be sure to come back.
I really think that they genuinely want happy pets, I hear what you are saying and visit every couple of weekends or so-will ask when I next go.

Are they gonna be house pets? They will train to a litter tray. The breeder may have a vasectamised hob to use to bring them out of season, or know someone who does. Try here for advice if you need any, they're nice people The British Ferret Club

Thanks for the link, the reason I bought from them is the ability to have backup.

I full expect the next visit will be a chat about how we are getting on and to see if we have any questions

They do ferret shows all over the country with PR about ferrets so if you go to country fairs and see them they'll be more than willing to chat.

Bleedin ell... I gave my litter away for nowt to friends of friends earlier this year!

Mind, I've never paid for one myself either...

people tend to ask for £5 for them round here. i've had all mine sorted at the vets, think it was £60 for the jill and £45 for the hob. are you planning on using them as working ferrets? (great fun)

Working them sounds interesting,have a couple of land owner mates / farmers-how does it affect temperament.

If the jills are kept in clean conditions there should be no problem when they are in season, they can pick up an infection from dirty hutches, I got 3 young hobs in the summer, i chose hobs because they are not used for working as much as jills so are harder to get rid of, was only going for 2 but as they were very overcrowded i took all 3, the only 3 hobs in a litter of 10, there was another litter of around 10 in another hutch so the guy really needed the room, might have to get their bollocks off if they get too fighty, but have been ok so far

Working them won't have any affect on their temperament mate, I have 3 jills all workers and are also soft as **** around me and my 5 year niece.
You need to get yourself some nets and a mark 1 locator and go have some fun!
