It's Saturday and therefore it has to be EAS day!

This morning I decided it was time to swap the EAS valve block for a 'new' one. Ebay strikes again! All went well and when I started the engine up it took it's normal lengthy time to inflate the bags, but inflate they did with no EAS fault.
So I then got the Faultmate out to do a check and this showed that the Front Off Side sensor is faulty! BUT it doesn't come up as a fault on the message centre.
So I now have a faulty sensor which I didn't have when I last did a check with Faultmate less then a week ago.
So the question is can the 'new' valve block introduce a sensor fault, which I think not. Incidentally the omens are good so far in that the car has stayed at the correct ride height since the engine was turned off and the doors closed.
This was the prime reason for exchanging the valve block as with the old block the car would click to itself and slowly end up on the bump stops unless the tailgate was left open! On odd occasions the car would rise to the top of it's settings when left and at other times would sink at the front or back depending on how it felt! I'm sure there is a leak in one of the valves, something I will look at in doors!
As I said now it stays level even if any of the doors are opened and closed, but I have this curious Faultmate message of a faulty sensor! The height reading are little strange with the 'faulty' sensor reading low. I wonder whether I should try and force change the settings? Guidance on how to do that with Faultmate would be appreciated as I can't seem to get the settings to 'take'
Sorry about the rambling nature of the post!
Thanks again one and all,
Ian

Too true only mine started on Friday the dreaded beep beep front end went to full height back stayed at nomal level it was like driving a speed boat put test lead on it read heights fl reading 0 but still at full height think probably a fooked height sensor please help me
cheers alan

Sunday on my own height sensor sorted found out it was drivers side that was loose which was affecting passenger side reading making it go out of range once again all happy and smiling i hope
Cheers Alan

Hi Alan

Using RSW software instead of the Faultmate I checked the EAS on mine as it did seem OK.
The RSW readings were all sensible and confirmed that the system is OK!
Everything responded as it should, going up and down on command. The actual ride is level and returns to within a millimeter or two after asked to go up or down.
So why does the Faultmate show a faulty sensor?
Anybody have experience of the Faultmate MSV2? Care to share your experiences?

So maybe the Faultmate is not perfect! Better let BBS's know about the problem cos it may affect others with the same kit. Could of course just be a problem with your Faultmate.

I don't want to slag BBS off but I did have had a duff serial lead but it was easy to repair. The serial plug was a cheap plastic one with next to no cable strain which I replaced with a 'proper' metal one and working cable clamp! BBS say it wasn't one of theirs, I bought the Faultmate from RPi as they are BBS agents in the UK.
In all truth I can't say I'm particularly enamored with the Faultmate compared with the VAGCOM I have for my VW T5! Altogether a better software package, but that could be due to VW being more 'open' with their vehicle software.
Now it could be my P38...but one thing that I regularly have to do is turn the ignition off and or reboot the Vehicle explorer software, something I have ever had to do with the RSW software or for that matter the VAGCOM software on the VW!

Any other BBS Faultmate experiences folks?

Ian
