Finally! I managed to find a Defender which I could afford. Traded in my 2001 Disco and smiled all the way home. I have missed owning a Defender......Anyway, after a couple of days, the honeymoons over! Went to start it, everything looked good, a sort of scratchy noise while waiting for the glow plug symbol to go out, engine turned over but failed to start. Battery! Little tell tale LED is black. Removed it, charged it, reinstalled it, engine started first time. Went and had congratulatory cup of tea, snoozed on couch, watched Countdown (got 'aroused',not a bad 7 letter word from the selection) went out and tried to start Landy; scratchy noise....wouldn't start. Pulled trusty motorbike out of garage and went off on night shift in the rain. So, I'm going to replace the battery in the few hours I have in between shifts.....more expense.....more hassle.....more fannying about......I couldn't be happier!
