Not sure if anyone can help with this mess but all advice would be appreciated.
On saturday at about 3 I had a working land rover, but 5 I did not, and it was all my own doing.
I decided to change the distributor and fit an electronic ignition thingy, rather than points, so I now have to redo the timing, I think I can handle this but...
the condensor is live on both terminals? the original wire from the truck went to the negative and then one out of the negative onto the old points. I wired as per britpart instructions the new electronic one to the positive and negative terminals of the condensor but no joy, and of course I can,t seem to get the timing right, I've also tested the HT lead to the dizzy which is not sparking. I had also put on a new distributor to work with the electronic ignition.
so what I want to know is how do you set the timing with electronic points? i.e. is it a build between the positive terminal and the live on the electronic ignition and turn distributor till it lights or something else.
secondly I presume I've knackered the condnsor but don't want to repeat and get the same result. If anyone can suggest an answer I would really appreciate it.
