Is there a lockwasher tab on this hub locknut?

Hi there
Looking for some advice please. Got a 2002 TD5 110 CSW and am trying to remove the nearside front hub assembly for the first time. Have got as far as removing the driving member off the end of the halfshaft and am trying to remove the 52mm hub nut.

I was expecting to find a lockwasher tab that I have to bend back first, but I can't work out if it's there or if it's missing. I couldn't spot it, so had a go with a 52mm hub socket / breaker bar / 6 foot scaffolding pole... but after 10 mins of wrestling with it, the breaker bar's male connector sheared off.

Before I have another go, please could I double check that there isn't a lockwasher after all ;) Piccies below.

Cheers

Thanks Scooby very useful - although the video doesn't include a TD5 hubnut demo, he does talk about it around 36:18... which was enough to make me realize that I've been reading the wrong section in the workshop manual (models up to 1999)... oops! Explains why I broke my breaker bar too!

Now I've found the right section in the workshop manual, I can see that for TD5 hubnuts my next step is to "knock back the staking" before undoing the hubnut. I'm not what staking means.... am I trying to lever the inner ring closest to the halfshaft towards me (to pull up and over the halfshaft)... or something else?

Many thanks

Thanks for second link Scooby.

The narrator in the video also mentions TD5 hubnuts briefly about halfway through... before saying he doesn't like them / use them and then shows his preference (the 2 nut method).

I've found various general car videos that show how to stake / unstake hubnuts.... but they all have really obvious dimples... but the hubnut on my TD5 doesn't look like them.

Unfortunately I haven't found a You Tube video yet that shows how to stake / unstake a TD5 hubnut... which is why I'm struggling!

In your third pic you can see at the bottom of the nut the flattened section that is " staking " the nut. It is tidy because it was done with a special tool at the factory. Replacement ones are rarely as neat. A small sharp chisel will get under and lift the stake and split one end . Heathens may use an angle grinder.

Ah ha! Now I get it.

Did as you said, small sharp chisel to get under and as you said, eventually rim breaks off. Really struggled with the hub nut, even with 6 foot scaffold pole I couldn't shift it.... so borrowed some muscle from my neighbour who's in the construction industry and at least 3 times as strong as me. With a bit of effort he managed to do it.... job done!

Thanks for explaining it all... here's the bad boy free at last!
