Is the wire that determines wheather i have a spider or not

I have a 300tdi auto, im trying to find out if it has a spider or not because it nearly dies sometimes then comes back to life, is this the wire that i should be looking at to determine if its edc or spider.

if that is the fuel solonoid i would say yes you have a spider mine has 3 wires going to it and no spider

But ive read that if its got a MAF it doesnt have a spider and i think this is the MAF, but not sure:

Ive got that on my list of TO-DOS, ive read it will run better without it.

I've taken mine ff and the viscous fan and the cat do it

Reckon you have the famous 'spider'.
You can bypass the spider altogether using a small harness available from Land Rover .
Of course there could be other reasons for the occasional loss of power e.g. my brothers 97 300 Tdi was doing something similar which got progressively worse (including a few scares at junctions etc ) until it refused to start at all. Turned out to be a small black wire attached with the main earth behind the battery was loose . Tightened it up and fine since .
