Evening guys ... right I'm struggling as to how or whom I can get informations as to wether my rear chassis will be okay to tow a caravan around 1400kg
Basically I've just bought a caravan and I'm due to pick it up at the weekend ... how do I know whether my chassis is safe or not ?? It's gone through an mot with no problems but it does look a little on the rough side .. I'm just confused as to how I can find out if it's okay or if I need to get the section replaced yet ?
Any help would be appreciated

Looks OK to me .. most of the rough bits seem to be undercoat ... To be sure I'd give it a few healthy ****s with a hammer, if it 'rings' it's probably sound, if it gives a dull thud, or causes a hole it needs further investigation.

I was going to say it doesnt look good, when the welds look like squirel $hit and covered with a thick coat of underseal you and i know its been done to get it through an MOT.
Just because its passed an MOT test doesnt mean its structrally solid, it simply means that the tester with his MOT approved tapping and probing tool cant detect a fault.
A monkey could be trained to weld and it would proberbly pass an mot because no welder approval or structural integraty checks are carried out. Tapping the chassis welded repair with an MOT toffee hammer falls way too short.

Oh dear lol ill give the local landrover specialist up and see what he says ( not landrover their self!)
If not there may be a td5 breaking for spares by the end of the week lol!!

That is fixable. And id question the mot tester about that. Or before mot id look myself and **** it then weld what needs doing

5ha ks mate would appreciate it if you could give me the details .. no harm in getting a few quotes :)
Just waiting till my local specialist opens at 9 today to see what he says ..
Can I ask everyone's opinions on whether the discos are worth the repair cost to them ? I like the car personally :)
