is my pump shaged

last week or two its been taking a while for my suspension to lift
about 5 miles if driven from low setting
but this morning on the way to blackpool for a day out got about 20 miles and still no lift then BEEP BEEP BEEP eas fault
stoped and poped bonnet and the pump seemed a little too hot so turned round got it home and re set off in wiffeys car
just greatful i was 20 miles from home and not 20 miles from black pool
as i live in burton on trent
 
Good chance...not a big job to remove and strip the pump down..around 20 minutes and you don't have to depressurise the system. When you slide the cylinder off you will see straightaway if the piston seal is shot. They are cheap enough off Ebay.

IMPORTANT..when refittin the pump, only tighten the mounting nuts up to a light nip otherwise the pump will run noisy if they are too tight.

Personally I would never drive off until the car is up to height, on mine this normally takes about 5 seconds unless it's been left on uneven ground for a few days when the BECM will self level it down to the lowest level. It then takes about 30 seconds to come up to normal level.

Your problem might not be the pump, check your air suspension bags for leaks. If they are over 8 years old there is a good chance they are shagged.:eek::eek::eek:
 
had a good look this afternoon still getting eas fault on the dash so dont think its a thermal cut out concern
and pump is not working not a dicky bird
striped it down and the diaphram is vworn
so any ideas why its not working ? and can i clear the fault by disconecting the battery?
all advice is greatfuly recived

RSWsolutions EAS reset software and a £15 lead from Ebay and you should be able to reset the fault unless you have the luck of fifer:D

Yes it's a laptop job or you can buy an EAS kicker from Black Box. Either way I'm pretty sure you will have to clear the fault before the pump will run again. :(:(:( That was certainly the case with mine:(:(:(

No personal experience, but others seem to think the Blackbox stuff is good, certainly very portable. I carry my laptop if I'm going far just in case:eek: RSWsolutions also do an EAS kicker, no experience of that either, but their software does the bis on my laptop:D

Don't go for some cheapo tho, unless someone can really recomend one. Blackbox seem to be the experts for this stuff, I'm planning to buy one of their Faultmate Nano's when I have the cash so I can sort other problems when they arise.:cool:

I bought one 2nd hand as the wife got fed up with me borrowing her laptop. Works a treat.

I think they're on special offer at the moment too. Not sure if it will let you do everything that the EAS Unlock software will do (ie depressurise, set ride heights etc), but it certainly clears the faults and is compact enough to live in the glove box.

In either hard or soft fault mode, the compressor will not run. In theory if it's soft fault mode, the suspension should go up to maximum height before shutting down. This is a bit of a bugger if you have an air leak somewhere as one or more corners will eventually drop, but it's better than the alternative - hard fault puts it on the bump stops and displays the max 35mph warning.

Where are you? Someone might be able to lend you a kicker or a laptop with EASUnlock on it.

You can buy Panasonic Toughbooks secondhand off ebay or via Black Box - I got one off ebay for £50 - which you can dedicate to the EAS software and to Faultmate Software later on, if you intend buying the whole kit (you certainly need one with an aging P38). They are very strong laptops made for industrial use and knocking about, you only need an oldish one to run the software, no fancy Vista or XP jobs required. Otherwise the Kicker is about £100 or so and is self-contained, ie no laptop required. I'm also in B-O-T BTW :)

My pump is running all the time as it appears I have a leak in the valve block and I can't get the tank up to pressure, pump runs, stops for a few seconds and starts again.

I'm going to try and find a o ring replacement kit and get it fixed before the pump burns out hopefully.
