is my 300 tdi lump a 2.5 turbo ?
this is probably a very stupid question and for that i appologise in advance... I have just brought my first Diesel Discovery ever, the previous four Discoveries were all V8's (what with petrol prices etc, Diesel it was)...

Anyway, TDi .....Turbo Diesel Intercooler ? Maybe ?

I need to give it the once over , oil, filters, whatever....and just realised that I have no idea about diesels.... If it helps it is a 96 Discovery XS TDi.

Whats this about flushing intercoolers and stuff....is that differcult ?

Any help would be good help.

Cheers Gary.

Yup all 300 tdis are turbocharged, intercooled 2.5 litre lumps.

Flushing the intercooler is easy enough, remove it, fill with parafin, let it stand, drain and repeat until clean. Make sure the intercooler is 110% dried out before replacing. Lots fo threads about it on here.

Nope, that was discussed the other day... only VW can use that description! :D
my LAND ROVER is a 200 TURBO DIRECT INJECTION. see not a vw in sight. On top of my engine the sound deading cover states turbo direct injection and in the genuine LR manual the same with no reference to vw. don't believe the hype.

Thanks, I've been trying to track down the original launch publicity since this VW theory first appeared on LZ.
Its always been Turbo Direct Injection to me, and always will be.
