Im going to buy a 110 in the next few weeks but dont really know what im looking for when I go and look to see if its any good, I know sort of how to check over the chassis and the engine but thats about it, dont really know what im checking for with anthing like steering or brakes etc apart from the obvious.

The RAC do a 250+ point vehicle check and give you a report before you buy it but they charge nearly £200! Is this gunna be worth it, will they know what they are looking for in an 14-18 year old defender? Anyone had one of these? or shall i just go and do the trivial checks I know like solid chassis etc

find someone off here that knows 90/110s and bribe them with beer tokens to come inspect it with you

look for rust, lots and lots of rust.

then look for oil leaks, lots and lots of oil

then realise that land rover in their wisdom fitted all land rovers with a special anti corosion system,

it's called an gearbox

never found any rust near it

:)

always go in pairs, look for faults and say you have others to look at, got mine cheap and it's solid-but there are real rot boxes too
