Hi guys, when I switch on my Rangie, it switches on everytime, infact first every first time. Now the problem is, my interior light, dashboard lights, the cd player, i mean all electrics, they just keep flashing, sort of non-consistant current. when I switch on the headlight same thing, inconsistant flickering of the light. would it be my battery or the alternator and this happys when im stood still or even when driving.

Any ideas, if its the battery, i mean what battery is needed for a 4.0 se, petrol, manual, rangie and will I need to reset all my electrics like the usual key fob and windows not set message and stuff.

Thanks in advance for your help...:)

It could very well be the alternator and the battery.

As you know the Range Rover maybe a £55K 4x4 limousine, but it has one of the worst electrics ever!

Check to see if you have the cars original 80amp alternator and if so, I'd highly recommend upgrading it to at least 120amps as the car has so many electrical luxuries it makes sense to do so, even more so of a reason is when the car has the heated front windscreen installed as it will put an electrical strain on the cars electrical system and cause the battery to fail over time.

Also, have you had your RF receiver upgraded from the original defective part AFR1953 to the new fully working YWY500170?

I ask this as again your RR will certainly suffer from battery issues which potentially could be the route cause of your problem in the first place.

The old RF receiver allows any Tom, Dick and Harry signal to be received and wakes up the BECM security system and drains your battery. Come the next time you use it, the battery is half dead and you may then experience engine immobilised messages on the dashboard and then require flat trucking back to a dealer.
