I am to old now to get up and down under the car. I am going to buy a 2 post ramp, if it is ok to use. I read somewhere that you should only use a 4 poster, so that the wheels do not hang fully down.
Anyone know anything about it.

The shocks should stop the axles dropping far enough to damage height sensors. In RAVE it says not to, but that's in the workshop manual section, but probably to avoid legal claim on the grounds of safety.

This has reminded me..
When Duchess went for her first MOT after my most excellent restoration of course:cool: the MOT guy muttered something like ' I don't like doing these things' , bit rude but off I went to the customer viewing booth to watch.
He then put the jacking beam under the central cross member and lifted her up and watched as the wheels lowered back onto the lift and kept jacking until all 4 wheels were dangling. I was concerned as I had read that the bags can tear but that was a bloke down the pub saying that.
Duchess was fine afterwards. Maybe the dampers stop it dropping too far.?
I'll ask why it was necessary next year if I remember.

Mate of mine who passed his garage onto his son The son lifted a P38 on a 2 poster and had hard faults when he lowered it luckily his dad knew I had the EAS software and cable and they got away with a reset. So you take your chances. A lot of the 2 posters won't take RR's weight

Crack open the hatch when you lift it so the EAS doesn't know what is going on and as long as the correct shocks are fitted it will be fine, they go off road after all where the axles may fully articulate.
Be careful mounting the 2 post lift, you need a really solid concrete base fully reinforced with rebar, I have been advised it needs to be 8 inches thick and roughly the size of the vehicle footprint.
Sorry, I made an error on the concrete. For a 4 tonne 2 post lift, I'm told that under the posts the concrete should be 50cm thick tapering to 30cm at each end.
This is the company I was looking at:- www.automotechservices.co.uk
£1200 + VAT for a 4 tonne lift.
It's the cost of digging out the barn floor and the concrete that has put me off as it's more than twice the cost of the lift:(
Might look at a 4 post as less concrete is needed.
