What it says on the tin, is the noisey bit of me landy a 300TDi?

Check engine number if it starts with IRACE its a 300

The arrows are lined up on the top of the airbox (this is a conversion job - done by previous owner I think), moving it shouldn't be too difficult as its held in by some half arsed cable tie job. Think the previous owner was called Arthur judging by the state of some of the changes that have been made.
 
I meant the whole box is rotated, mate. Not just the end. Does your engine air intake come from the passenger wing?
 
What orientation should the air box be at?
Looking at some photos of other conversions some have the air box piping route across the front of the engine bay, so the air box is rotated 180degs about the vertical compared to mine, and some have the air box as having the "snout" facing down and left at the 7/8 o'clock rather than the 2 o'clock position of mine
 
I think you will find original 300 car has the air intake on the drivers side wing, and the air box trunking goes under the master cylinder, 200 and earlier have it on the passenger side.
 
As lynall says, with the birds mouth valve pointing down and the intake pipe coming from drivers wing. Yours has been rotated so the intake more easily comes from passenger side.
 
No, wouldn't think so. So long as it's not kinked or rubbing on anything. The only other issue could be the one way valve in the branch of the intake pipe. It should be pointing down.
 
The valve is only really to catch and drain dust so not the end of the world, in motors with snorkels its common to seal the vale up solid to stop water ingress.
If you want it as standard just buy the 300 drivers side wing vent that way you can use all oe spec bits.
