I would NOT use MTF in a R380 transmission and seriously doubt LR would be recommending it.

These trannys have an oil pump that circulates the oil, MTF would be too heavy an oil, this would lead to inadequate lubrication and eventually transmission failure.

D2 will be fine.

cheers disco . sorted fer the weekend now . is it hard to change r380 oil ?
also is ep 90 / ep80 ok fer the tranny box in a 96 deepender

Redline works fine in transmissions with integral oil pump . :) They advise its use to replace atf in man trans in extreme use situations. HTSH

Errrm, according to a Land Rover technical bulletin a couple of years ago, ATF was causing failure in certain cases, and now ONLY use Texaco MTF-94 in R380 gearboxes, and the same is also recommended for use in LT77 boxes. Do a search on this forum, or any Landy forum for that matter on the subject. It gets brought up about every 3 months...

Really, OK I will take note of this. So are LR basically saying that MTF should be used in these boxes?

I was always told it was ATF.

EP90/120 for your transfer box, axles and swivels.
