IRD filler plug

just done some work on the IRD and whoever had the car before stripped the thread on the filler hole ,I ve got a 25mm tap and a brass 25mm plug ,is there any reason anyone knows why I can't use a brass plug.
 
Go for it, brass should be fine, that's what the washer is made of.

OE plug below
