Evening all!
I've just registered as I've just bought a 2003 Freelander TD4. It seems like it's in decent nick, it's got 99k on the clock and runs really smoothly. Mostly going to be using it for commuting (snore) but also for a decent amount of "exploring" on Salisbury Plain.
I'll have plenty of questions in due course (obviously, new owner!), but I do have one to start. When I turn the ignition, and before I start the engine, there is a reasonably high pitched whine that I can hear that seems to be coming from the area of the reat offside wheel arch. I'd be wondering about the fuel pump but there are no power issues and the engine runs well, but clearly I can't rule it out. The noise goes away after a while, but does come back. Not noticed a particular pattern yet. Vehicle isn't moving and engine not running so can't be the diff (very aware of that one, had the same diff in a previous car). Anyone got any ideas?
I'll be back regularly to try to learn from you all, there are a few rust spots that I'm certainly going to need to patch at some point.
Thanks, and good to (virtually) meet you!
