Hello all, i am a new member from Atlanta USA but currently serving overseas in Sigonella naval station in Italy. And I just bought about a couple if weeks a 1988 Land Rover Santana series IV (Defender body series 3 frame) at at good price here in Italy. There are some little things I need to fix to make it perfect. But as of tomorrow I'm removing all the defender badges the previous owner put on it as it tried to sell it as a defender but as my wife is from Spain and I have seen a fair share of Santana over there I new what to look for in the car and lowered the price. I'm installing back the Santana badges because I'm proud of what I got and don't need to fool anyone of what it is. So far the parts have been fairly cheap and easy to find. Long story short I'm glad I'm here and is my pleasure to meet you all.

Here is the car. So far no dings and dents anywhere

Body is in pretty good shape for a 31 years old Rover with 101k km

As you see the previous owner removed the Santana name and put defender badges

Thanks for the piccies - that does indeed look nice and straight :)

I passed my driving test in a Series IIA - so like a nice "series" type vehicle .... I'm quite envious, in a good way, of you having that :)

Which engine? Petrol ?

It has the 12J diesel 2.5 aspirated from the Land Rover 90. It is painfully slow (top speed is 67mph) but I can cruise easily from 50-55 mph. I bought this car because is my "feel happy" car and the one that I always wanted. Defender are outrageously expensive and he Santana is a bit cheaper but still expensive. The engine still in really good condition. The only problem so far is a rear wheel hub that I need to change

Thank you guys for welcoming "us" "Santi and me" in the forum
I'm new to the Land rover family and didn't want to be another "sheep" and get a Jeep. And I had to educate the kids about the new addition to the "family" since the wife has a 2006 Jeep Liberty(Cherokee in Europe) and the first thing the kids said when they saw the landy was : "a jungle Jeep". They are small but I had to stop them on their tracks and rectified them that is a Land Rover (with Spanish heritage lol) but not a Jeep.
