Hi

First post (and it won't be the last) to introduce myself - I live in central Hampshire, and drive a 2008 Freelander 2 (my 3rd Land Rover).

Useful for dragging the wife's horse trailer out of the mud, and as I live in the sticks on a hill, useful for getting out when it snows.

Last two Land Rovers were earlier Freelanders, both of which broke, bless 'em. Now this one has started to show some common issues - including a very expensive steering rack/pump/reservoir replacement 2 months out of warranty which inhibited my sense of fun - and I can see I'll be asking for some advice on other stuff soon.

Cheers!

Your first 2 Freelanders broke, so you went and bought a 3rd  Did you learn nothing fom the first 2?? I hope you are prepared for some serious **** taking :D But on a serious note. If you head on over to the Freelander section, there is bound to be someone over there that can offer some advice or sympathy.

The steering rack / pump / reservoir problem is a known issue with Gaylander 2's and LR should have put it right FOC, even if out of warranty.
Guess you rolled over too easily, rather than kicking and screaming.

Darn. Lost the keys to my Tardis, should have joined here 6 months ago and saved myself a fortune. Fuel gauge that only goes to half full is next on the hit list... Don't know what'll happen when it thinks it's empty yet, but I'm betting the electronics will win over common sense, and shut the engine down. Freelander owner without breakdown cover = pedestrian.

I like the way you wrote that your guage is showing half full.
You'll need that optimism to own a Freelander.

The guages are pants, I tried allsorts on mine and in the end I left it alone.
It righted itself after putting a few full tanks in it :)

Thanks - it's on its 2nd full tank since the problem started, and I was going to give it a few more to see if it goes away. The triumph of optimism over experience, perhaps, but hey...
