intermittent power loss

Hi, I have a freelander 1, 1.8 petrol. 2001. which has recently developed an intermittent power loss, runs well but suddenly loses power and judders, foot flat makes no difference. Feels like turbo failure, except that obviously it doesn't have a turbo! Checked for loose connections, cleaned fuel filter. Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution?

have you checked the fuel pump ,or have you had the in tank fuel filter out a lot of debris gets into the tank more than you think, hope this helps

Thank you Teddywood 1, I have had the in tank filter out and cleaned although it wasn't really dirty, not sure how to check the fuel pump?
