Intermittent PAS faliure ???

Any body had a similar problem ?

When turning my 300tdi Defender steering will briefly become very stiff but then go back to usual, in both directions.

Sounds like the belt might be slipping (as it does when ploughing through puddles) but the tension feels fine.

Fluid is full and looks fine - not leaking any.

Belt may well have worn thin and although tight will not grip the pulley's .

as ratty said ,thats the most likely cause in my case last week it was because i put a britpart pump on 5 months ago and it was failing
