strange one this after fixing the heated seat i noticed the seat(passenger) wasnt going up so had a look today. found out 1 of the motors wasnt turning the one that winds the front of the seat up. dissconnected it from the seat it happliy winds in the downward rotation and the motor is strong lots of messing about and it intermitently winds in the up direction.

suspect the seat switch gave it a spray with electric cleaner but no difference so not having a copy of rave i think its controlled by the becm switching the current from positive to minus giving rotating both ways but here is my question are there any relays in the circuit. there are 2 yellow ones under the seat i didnt play with them prob should have

The yellow ones are the SRS, don't play with those unless you want a face full of airbag. Seat motors just work on polarity reversal if it goes one way it should go the other. Switching is possibly the problem.

well glad i didnt play with those then no wires trapped either and i suspect the up switch is where the fault lies iv ordered a replacement as it seems to be the mostly likley cause, seat happily goes down once down its stuck their intermittent up function, nothing worse not being able to get it up :p

You've not trapped a wire somewhere have you? did you remove the seat to fix the heater element?

yes removed the seat its simple enuff but had to leave it in place today to supply power so i could play with it will have to do the drivers seat when my new element arrives.

now any one selse want there heated seats fixed ?

When switch operated it uses two switches one switches from positive to neutral and one switches neutral to positive. Or vice versa if moved in the other direction to reverse the motor and give up and down.

Assuming it's a P38, a quick look a RAVE suggests the switches operate the up/down motor direct which came as a surprise. You need to check the switch output, it is a double pole device to provide the polarity reversal.

yes its a p38 i dont have a copy of rave or i woulda checked the colour coding and tried shorting the terminals to by pass the switch. so who can tell me which ones to jump?

red wire black wire so much pressure.......bang
