interior piller trim

Whilst im waiting for wensday to come around which is when its booked in for the fuel pump sorting
I thought id try to clean the old girl up abitand found myself abit stumped
The furry stuff on the interior pillers is coming off in big lumps
My last rr did this too but on this one you only need touch it and it molts
This a common problem and any one got any sugestions?
Obviously its gona have to be taken off(comes off with just my fingernail)
But what can i do to refinnish it?was thinking maybe some leather look wrap on somthing
