intercooler

i'm going to replace the intercooler on my defender 300tdi for a performance one. i've had a look on the net and there are a lot from different firm with the price ranging from £300 to £450. just wondering if any one has used these firms before for a intercoolerand which one if any is better or are just paying for the name

My 300tdi disco had a very nice standard size brunel intercooler, no faults with that during the time I had it.

Yep.
I've got a standard sized Brunel one on my 300TDi 90 and it is fine. I did a lot of investigation before buying including talking to the people who make & use them and it seemed to be the best bet for me. Never regretted it.

Unless you are going to drive it really really hard for a long time you wont need the performance cooler at all, the extra power comes from the injection pump settings.
I had a large cooler on my td5 disco and a thermocouple before and after the charger and there was hardly any temperature drop when on full chat.
I would just tweak the pump and if you are happy with that leave it as is and save a fortune.
