Wouldn't blocked intercooler only cause it to collapse on outlet side? Or do I have my inlet/outlet definitions wrong?

Path of air is into air filter, across engine in rigid plastic pipe, into turbo, out of turbo through a selection of metal and rubber pipes to intercooler, out of intercooler through more rubber pipes to manifold. If the engine is trying to suck in air, a restriction at any point can cause the pipes to collapse. A turbo running in a vacuum does nothing:)
