Hi everyone
Please advise a newbie if you can.
Fairly pleased with my powers of diagnosis in correctly guessing a noisy engine was due to an ic hose. Inspection revealed a nice split at upper end of hose behind rad fan.
at first glance looks like whole front end incl rad and fan will have to come off for access but just wondered if any of you have done this job already and found an easier way ?
any tips appreciated.

No need for bumper to come of quite easy to fit I will dig out the photo's I have when I changed mine sometime back, if you have fitted it in the mean time maybe it will help others .

Hi Richard.
if you look between the top coolant hose you may just make out the jubilee clip which holds the intercooler hose to the intercooler, you will need a long flat bladed screw driver 10" minimum they can be bought form any diy shop for about £2.00 if you do not have one, hopefully the photo's will explain all to you cheers Arctic.

PS you may want to give this a wide birth as I have only just noticed you are referring to a FL 2 not FL 1 sorry.

I have never removed a full intercooler pipe, but always remove the centre rigid part of it when I do an oil change, gives better access to filter housing. I assumed everyone did it this way. Not sure if you can get to the whole pipe without removing the front, but worth a look if you are lucky with the jubilee clip positions.
If it's the short pipe above the rigid bit that need replacing then you should be ok.
I always remove the the sump guard and the plate at the front that has 3 secret bolts, it doesn't come off, but drops and moves forward allowing access from underneath. Not sure if this is any help.

you do realize this is for a Freelander 2

guys thanks for all the tips.. it was the hose which attaches to the off side port on the intercooler.. it has 3 sections but main dealer only offering full set at £130. I only needed short 5 inch top flexible section which attaches to the throttle body i think. i managed to get a silicone replacement from gotts in Hants. £40 and pretty easy to fit without major surgery.
thanks for all the help. what a great site.
