Imagine a non techno person with a computer. Now double it and you will get me.

I heard a lot on this site about the Rave CD. I decided to download it but when I click on the icon my computer tells me to look for a programme that can open the file. ?????

I clicked the message that says windows can look for a programme for me but then I get all sorts of choices. One webb tells me the Rave CD is an ISO.......whats that??

I have thought of an easier solution and if someone is prepared to help and that is..... Can any obliging member send me a Rave CD in the post.

I will pay honest!!

Regards Dave

download a prog called "daemon tools", it's free and quite small. it's a virtual dvd drive, so it basically makes your comp think that is has got more drives than it has. once you've installed it right click on the new icon on the bottom right of your desktop and click on "mount image" this will open a computer window where you find the rave cd you've downloaded, open it and job done, your comp now thinks that the rave cd is in the disk drive and it will open as normal when you click on it.

Sorry Barmatt - No Joy - All I keep getting is a box coming up saying 'Bad error or Command' I downloaded the tools ok. Look in the title....that will give you an idea of me and computers!!!!

the rave disc is a ISO image file you need to burn the file to a cd with nero or image burn or which ever burning software is on your computer

Download a program called Alcohol 120% (Google it) with this it's simple to burn the ISO file to a CD in readable form, you can then use it on any computer.:D

You don't have to burn it , daemon tools will let you open iso images without burning them to disk.

Alternatively mate pm me your address and I'll burn one and stck it in the post for you.

I would say it's easier it mount the iso image on daemon tools. Google how to mount an iso using daemon tools there's plenty of walk throughs with pictures, better an any of us explaining it.

It may be that the file is compressed... right click on the file and then left click 'properties' (at the bottom of the list) that will open a box which tells you more about it.

The second bit of information on that page will tell you what type of file it is and thus what program you need to make sense of it.

A .rar or .zip file has previously been compressed (useful for internet file sharing) and will need to be un-compressed before the file is useable, either WinZip or WinRAR can do this for you.

Now check the file/s that have been unzipped, if there is just one file it will likely be a .iso file - these store the raw data that would be on a CD or DVD, so your PC can't make use of it straight away.
You either need to burn it to a CD with a program that can burn from an ISO image, or fool your PC into thinking that the file IS actually a CD with a program such as PowerISO...

Thanks for all your help guys. Never ceases to amaze me the knowledge available on this forum. I have taken the easy route and got Barmatt to send me a CD....Thanks again
