Chaps,

My new pride and joy arrives in a weeks time; it's a 2006 Defender TD5 Pick up with approx 122 bhp (well it was supposedly when it left the factory :D).

I'm thinking about having a Stage 1 or Stage 2 engine tune by IRB - they look like good blokes and they seem to get good feedback on the forum.

My questions are:

1. Will the engine mods add loads to my premium (so will they be worthwhile)?
2. Who are the best couple of insurers out there to try in the first instance?
3. Thoughts on ball park premium costs (before and after the mods)?

I'm 47 :( have many years no-claims and live in a fairly low risk area + the Landy will be my main car (but it won't be garaged overnight).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks....Terry

Best thing to do is ring round various insurance companies and explain the intended mods and see what they can do for you. :)

Holy moly - just had a quote for £499.43 or £647.63 (if I want to use it for business) from Adrian Flux.

This is for a box standard (no performance mods) Defender 90 pick up!!

They recon that they are one of the most stolen vehicles on the road due to no immobiliser!!

This is is a lot more than I was expecting - ouch!!
