This:

C. Accidental Loss

If you selected the option to pay an additional premium and insure your electronic item for Accidental Loss then if you lose your electronic item we will replace it. If you have cover for Accidental Loss this will be stated within your policy documents. Accidental Loss cover is not available on any Laptop or iPads.

goes completely against this...

WHAT WE WILL NOT COVER

1. Theft or loss:

• from any building, land, premises or vehicle unless force, resulting in damage to the building or premises, was used to gain entry or exit;

You are only ever going to lose anything (accidentally) from a building, land or vehicle (the only time i can think this wouldn't apply is if you're swimming at sea in it!) there is never going to be any force so if you have the first (accidental cover), it MUST negate the second para otherwise the accidental cover is completely pointless and actually doesn't mean anything, which would be misleading and illegal.

If you have accidental cover, you are definitely covered against accidental loss from anywhere, which definitely doesn't need to involve a violent break-in!

thanks oddie, i like that:)

No worries, good luck (it's kinda part of what i do for a living!)

If they query that, ask them to name a situation where the accidental loss policy would be applicable, bearing in mind it covers loss on land, in buildings, in a vehicle only when there is violence - which during accidental loss is unlikely.

Jesus may have got away with losing his mobile phone whilst walking across some water, but i can't see any other time when it would be applicable! - oh maybe superman dropped his out of his cape pocket while he was flying.

least it looks like it's covered for water damage though:D:D

WHAT WE WILL NOT COVER
Your electronic equipment is not covered for:
1. Theft or loss:
• from any commercial vehicle.
• from any motor vehicle where you or someone acting on your behalf is not in the vehicle, unless the electronic equipment has been concealed in a locked boot, locked glove compartment or other locked internal compartment and all the vehicle’s windows and doors closed and locked and all security systems have been activated;
• from any building, land, premises or vehicle unless force, resulting in damage to the building or premises, was used to gain entry or exit;
• where the electronic equipment has been left unattended when it is away from your home;
• where reasonable precautions have not been taken

Surely reasonable precautions have been taken? I.e. she ensured she locked it in a locker.

problem is, reasonable precations not being taken is a get out clause, and can't be turned around to say that because reasonable precations have been taken they will pay out.

insurers scum of the earth, every time a get out clause.

Can you lend me £6.99? And even if I forget to pay you back, can I borrow another £6.99 next month too?

Don't trust lockers or anything like that. The organisation will probably keep a spare key and when one gets lost, they will just cut a new one as opposed to ripping out and replacing the locks.

Most lockers only have fairly low security locks fitted to them, 2000 different combinations is not uncommon.

These types of locks are normally 'mastered' as well.

Master keys for quite a few of the common (Lowe & Fletcher) lock series can be bought over the counter at a Locksmith's, or online.
