Somerset (but I'm a Landanna)
Current insurance is with RAC: £250 but runs out next month.
Renewal quote: £4,900 - that's four thousand nine hundred.
No claims at all. Hardly driven in fact,
These people are on drugs!

omg , that’s shocking but alas insurance for my D3 went from around £550 to £1200 , went with Hastings for around £500

was with A plan, now called howdens, called them and the Issue seems to be the keyless entry issue in how easily they can be nicked

hopefully going on the comparison sites u can get it down dramatically but have seen this year many saying there renewals are doubling or more

feel that land rover have a lot to answer for with regards to the keyless entry system as they’ve created a massive issue for owners as indeed it’s out of control with many ins quotes

good luck and plse let us know how u get on

It is madness, it is pretty much across the board. Saying that any Land Rover is particularly bad and you can blame JLR for that. If they put a bit more effort into stopping their vehicles from being stolen it might help.
Anyway blame Brexit, Covid, Ukraine war, Hamas its all their fault says the insurance companies.

Admiral attributed the recent car insurance rise to several factors, including:

https://metro.co.uk/2023/09/29/why-car-ins...-19576593/

Severe weather changes – Extreme changes between hot and cold can have a detrimental effect on cars
Car theft increases – An increase in car theft has also driven up the cost of claims
Rising cost of car repairs – Inflation has led to an increase in labour costs
Energy crisis – Admiral claim the steep increases in the price of energy have added around £70 to the cost of some repairs
Delays to the import of parts – There has been a delay to the importation of parts, meaning cars will likely be off the road for longer, and courtesy car costs will increase

But - 20 times as much?
I had a quote for £411 from Hastings - seemed a lot but doesn't seem so bad now!
Yes plain stupid. I imagine that insurance companies might get grief if they start refusing to insure so just set a price they know no-one will pay.

Direct Line won't even quote me on the Jag. Not sure if that's just because it's Northern Ireland though.
